Rani Duduma Waterfalls Koraput in Odisha

The Duduma Waterfall is located in the Koraput district of India. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world.

The Duduma waterfall is located in the state of Odisha in India. It is an impressive waterfall that cascades down from a height of about five hundred feet. This is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the country. Aside from its beauty, it is also known for its hydroelectric power. As a result, it is the source of much of the power consumed in the eastern states of Odisha.

The waterfall has two sub-waterfalls. The first is the Rani Duduma, which is a small but impressive waterfall. The second is the Duduma Waterfall, which is a colossal 574-foot tall waterfall. During the peak season, the water from the Duduma Waterfall is impounded in the Kolab Reservoir, which produces power for use in the area.

In addition to the main attraction, the region is also known for its unique Tribal culture. In fact, the bonda tribe has their own namesake river and is located within the proximity of the waterfall.

The Duduma Waterfall is one of the most exciting tourist attractions in the entire state. The waterfall is not only a sight to see, but it also creates an exhilarating scene in the rustic greenery of the region. While the actual waterfall is the real show-stopper, the other impressive thing about it is the surrounding mountains and hills.

Another way to view the Duduma Waterfall is to climb the nearby hill to get a bird’s eye view of the whole area. You can also try a bit of rock climbing, if you want to see the base of the waterfall from a different perspective.

The Duduma Waterfall may not be the best-looking waterfall in the world, but it is definitely the best-looking one in Odisha. Located on the border of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, it is a must-see for tourists. For an experience like this, it makes sense to plan a trip to the area in the winter months. Moreover, the area is known for its tribal culture, which is a draw for both locals and foreign travelers.

Overall, the Duduma waterfall is a must-visit destination for any adventurer in the area.

Horsetail type waterfall

The Duduma Waterfall is a horse tail type waterfall located in Odisha. This falls are located near Munchingiputtu village, about 177 km from Visakhapatnam. They are made by the Machkund River. You can get here by train, bus or taxi. It is also a perfect place for picnics.

Other than being the home to the Duduma waterfall, it is also the site of a hydroelectric project that has a capacity of 120 megawatts. The project is jointly operated by the Andhrapradesh and Odisha governments.

As the name suggests, a horse tail type waterfall is a tidbit of water that descends from a height of at least 30 feet. They are quite different from cascades and fan-shaped waterfalls. These waterfalls are carved from a steeply sloped hard rock layer. In some cases, the cliff face is vertical, allowing the water to flow much more freely than other waterfalls.

The horse tail waterfall is certainly an eye catching sight. Besides its impressive height, the most intriguing aspect of this type of waterfall is its ability to keep in touch with the underlying cliff.

Aside from the obvious, the waterfall is also an excellent source of water for tribals like the Pauri Bhuliyas. If you’re lucky, you’ll even spot elephants in this quaint locale.

Despite its modest size, the Duduma Waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in India. Another good reason to visit this beautiful location is its proximity to the Parajas.

The best way to enjoy this gushing spectacle is to travel in the fall season. October to March are the best months for this picturesque location. During these months, the weather is pleasantly pleasant and you’ll find plenty of elephants roaming the park.

The main drawback is the number of steps it takes to reach the top of the Duduma Waterfall. There are 800 steps to get to the viewing area. Fortunately, you’ll be able to take a taxi to the top for a reasonable price.

While you’re at it, you may as well visit the MurgaMahadev temple that is located right next to the waterfall. You can even participate in a traditional ‘Shravana’ celebration.

Machkund (Duduma) Hydroelectric Project

Machkund (Duduma) Hydroelectric Project is located in the eastern hydroelectric region of India. It is a joint venture project of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. There are six units installed in the project with a total installed capacity of 120 MW. The project is maintained by AP Genco.

This hydroelectric project is situated on the western slopes of the Eastern Ghats. Machkund river forms the hydroelectric basin. In addition, the project is also a source of water for Duduma waterfall.

Machkund (Duduma) hydroelectric project has the potential to generate electricity to a number of villages in Orissa. However, it has been affected by power shortage in different parts of Andhra Pradesh.

This hydroelectric project was launched as a joint venture between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in 1955. Since then, it has been shared on a 70:30 ratio. The entire project has undergone a lot of modernization to increase production.

Machkund (Duduma) river is a tributary of the Godavari River. The river flows through the undivided Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh. The river passes through the Padwa Valley and finally forms the border between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. During the 1940s, planning for the project began.

Construction of the Machkund (Duduma) dam was begun in the 1945. The first unit was commissioned in 1955. Eventually, the last unit was installed in 1959. The dam has a capacity of 120 MW. The dam is built at the site of the Duduma Waterfalls.

The site is a popular tourist destination in Orissa. The waterfall is also a favored picnic spot. The waterfalls are surrounded by lush green hills.

Getting to Machkund (Duduma) can be a bit of a challenge. One way is to take the Semiliguda to Lamptaput road. Another way is to take the Chaparai to Paderu road. If you decide to take this route, you can reach the Jeypore Railway Station in about 42 kilometers.

Although the project is a collaborative project between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, it has caused a lot of disruption in the lives of the people living nearby. Several thousand families have been displaced. Also, the project has been affected by agitations by villagers in the area.

Raniduduma waterfalls

The Rani Duduma Waterfalls are located in the hills of Nandapur, Koraput, Odisha. This is one of the most popular picnic places in the district. Located near the town of Semiliguda, the waterfall is surrounded by a beautiful park. It is a perfect place to spend a day with your family.

In order to reach this beautiful waterfall, you will need to make sure that you are comfortable with steps. There are several steps that lead up to the waterfall, and you will want to wear sturdy shoes that have good traction. You will also want to bring some spare clothing for bathing.

If you are planning to visit this waterfall, you will want to be sure that you have some time to spare. Since the Rani Duduma is located in a small stream, you will need to walk a few hundred meters to reach the top. While the waterfall itself is a relatively easy hike, you will need to carry bottled water and snacks on your trip.

Another thing you should consider is that the waterfall is quite cold in the winter, and can be rather uncomfortable to explore. As a result, you should only visit this location during the cooler months of the year, such as October or November.

One of the best parts about the Rani Duduma is that it is free of crowds. It is also a very scenic area, with plenty of trees and a nice, clean stream. However, it can be a little cold, so you may want to go during the daytime.

Another interesting aspect of the Duduma Falls is that there are two sub-waterfalls. One of these falls is in Andhra Pradesh, while the other drops down in Odisha. These sub-waterfalls are also surrounded by a beautiful park.

You can access the Rani Duduma by vehicle or by walking. During the summer, it can get very hot. For this reason, you may want to avoid visiting the falls during the monsoon.

One other way to access the Rani Duduma is to travel by train. The closest railway station is in Jeypore, about one hour and 50 minutes away from the waterfall.
